James E. McCarty (better known to his friends and clients as “Mac”) is a practicing antitrust attorney. "The Benghazi Betrayal" is his first work of non fiction. He wrote this book to attempt to resolve as many as possible of the conflicting strands of evidence and competing theories that still linger more than six years after the tragedy occurred. You can learn more about the book at www.TheBenghaziBetrayal.com. In November 2011, Mr. McCarty published his novel, "The Vatican Conspiracies." The book tells a fictional tale of power-struggles, espionage, conspiracy, doctrinal disputes, extortion, cover ups and forbidden love at the very top of the Catholic Church’s hierarchy. Mr. McCarty long has been interested in the dogmas, teachings, traditions, history, ceremonies, architecture and artwork of the Catholic Church – and especially its politics. In his first novel, he weaves all of these interests into a plot as intricate as it is compelling. Interested readers can learn more about the novel at www.TheVaticanConspiracies.com, and can purchase it at Amazon.com. In his day job, Mr. McCarty is an attorney. He has practiced antitrust law for more than forty years. He began his legal career with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. After leaving twelve years of government service, he was the head of the Antitrust Group of the former “Baby Bell,” US WEST Communications in Denver. He next entered private practice at Sherman & Howard, LLC, Denver’s oldest law firm. Since 1995, Mr. McCarty has headed his own antitrust law consulting firm, The Law Office of James E. McCarty. He is a member of the Colorado and California bars. He provides antitrust counseling on federal, Colorado and California antitrust laws, as well as on business tort issues. His clients include law firms, corporations, professional and trade associations, small businesses and individuals. Mr. McCarty also supervises complex discovery projects in both antitrust and non antitrust investigations and litigation. Mr. McCarty currently is working on two other non fiction works. Both are historical summaries and critical analyses of President Barack Obama’s administration. Book I will review and analyze President Obama’s foreign policy, including national security and terrorism issues. Book II will cover Obama’s domestic policies, including immigration and environmental matters. Both volumes will be available on Amazon.com. In addition, Mr. McCarty currently is writing a humorous short story (with a musical soundtrack) entitled, “Come Back, John.” The story relates the musings of an aging antitrust lawyer (any guesses who?) in a hotel bar sipping bourbon while lamenting the decline of modern culture in a myriad of areas. These include movies and television, sports, politics – and especially music. But he is pulled back from the brink of despair by the great music of his friend and wonderfully talented jazz pianist, John Kite, musical director of Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel. John’s music restores the author’s faith in the future of civilization. With luck, “Come Back, John” will be available on Amazon.com in the near future. Mr. McCarty, sixty seven, resides in Broomfield, Colorado (just outside Denver), with his lady love, Wendy S. Anderson. As she did with "The Vatican Conspiracies," Ms. Anderson played a key role in encouraging "The Benghazi Betrayal."
