Asaad Alsaleh

Asaad Alsaleh is a Syrian-American academic, who was born and raised in Syria before moving to the United States in 2003. He received his B.A. and a graduate degree from Damascus University in Syria. He obtained his M.A. from Emporia State University in Kansas and his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is professor of modern Arabic literature, comparative literature, and cultural studies at Indiana University in Bloomington. Alsaleh is author of Voices of the Arab Spring: Personal Stories of the Arab Spring (Columbia University, 2015), as well as many other publications on literature, culture, and the Middle East.
