Professor Vladimir Njegomir has a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, and Accounting and a master’s in Economics, Institutional Investments of Insurance Companies. Professor Njegomir has two PhDs. The first Ph.D. is in Technical Sciences, focusing on Risk Management and Insurance. The second Ph.D. is in Economics, focusing on Entrepreneurship and Insurance.
He worked as an economic analyst in a software company based in London. There, he focused on investment climate analysis, analysis of various sectors of the economy, business analysis, insurance, and pension funds. He also served as an adviser for strategic planning, corporate governance, and business analysis in the insurance company Dunav Osiguranje.
From 2010 to 2016, he was engaged as an Assistant Professor at The Dr. Lazar Vrkatic Faculty for Legal and Business Studies, and from 2016 to December 2020 as an Associate Professor. From December 2020, he is a Full Professor at the same institution.
He has co-authored eight books, including Basics of Insurance and Reinsurance, Reinsurance, Insurance: Economic Principles, Insurance: Economic and Legal Principles, Economics of Insurance, Insurance Companies in the Role of Institutional Investors, Claims Management in Insurance, and Climate Changes and Agriculture Insurance, and is the sole author of eight books including: Insurance, Insurance and Reinsurance: Traditional and Alternative Approaches, Entrepreneurship, Risk Management in Insurance and Reinsurance, and Insurance and Entrepreneurship: a Theoretical and Empirical Analysis of Interdependence.
He has taken part in eleven projects, managing four of them. He has taken part in over 20 scientific conferences and published over 150 scientific papers in risk management, insurance, reinsurance, and entrepreneurship.
He has written and published papers in the field of analysis of certain types of risks, insurance, and trends in risk caused by factors such as climate change and economic development, risk management, and capital and their interdependencies, regulatory and accounting aspects of insurance, analysis of the situation and trends in liberalization convergence of insurance services with other financial services, market structure, and globalization, as well as other aspects of entrepreneurship, risk management, insurance, and reinsurance. He has published papers in leading scientific journals such as The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice, Transformations in Business & Economics, Economic Thought and Practice, Economic Research and Economic Annals, and leading professional journals.
Professor Njegomir is the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Civitas. He is the editorial board member of the professional journal Svet osiguranja (The World of Insurance), a member of the Scientific Society of Agrarian Economists of Balkans, and a founding member of the Eastern European Insurance and Risk Association (EERIA).
