Max Trance is a hypnotist, coach, scientist and author living in New Zealand. I discovered hypnosis all the way back in the dim, dark mists of the end of the last millennium when I found and devoured a book filled with various experiments you could run at home. The common theme of these was that, at the time, no-one knew how to explain the results yet. Inside this book was a simple self-hypnosis process. It seemed really dodgy and unlikely to work, but I was a budding scientist at the time, so I ran the experiment anyway. You can imagine my astonishment when 2 hours later, I was able to create full-blown visual hallucinations. From that moment on I was hooked. Since then, I’ve been unable to relocate that book, so it is likely that it was actually several books. That’s kinda the way the human mind works. It takes stuff and associates it with other stuff. I’ve also spent many, many thousands of hours learning all about hypnosis and the mind, and experimenting with it on countless willing volunteers. Sometimes these experiments involve simple things like fixing anxiety and helping people to quit smoking, while other times they are far more complex and delve deeply into the construction of hypnotic realities that run for up to 50 years of perceived time in the space of a few hours. Outside of hypnosis and science, I love going for long walks through the wilderness along our many hiking tracks here, and have spent countless hours working on my old boat.
