Dianna Higgs Stampfler has been writing professionally since high school when she had a column in a local weekly newspaper. Today, she contributes to a series of travel and history based publications. “Michigan’s Haunted Lighthouse” was her first book, published in 2019 by The History Press. She followed that up with “Death & Lighthouses on the Great Lakes” in 2022. Her latest title is Kalamazoo County Characters, coming out in early 2025. In 2004, Stampfler launched her own consulting PR company called Promote Michigan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English with emphasis in Community Journalism and Communications with emphasis in radio broadcasting from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Stampfler is a member of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association, Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society, Historical Society of Michigan and Michigan Hemingway Society. She is also the founder of the Walloon Lake Writer’s Retreat.
