Erica Cirino

Erica Cirino is a writer, artist, and author of the award-winning book Thicker Than Water: The Quest for Solutions to the Plastic Crisis (Island Press, 2021). She has spent the last decade covering stories about people and the planet, especially plastic pollution, countering industry misinformation with carefully documented truths. Her photographic and written works have appeared in Scientific American, The Guardian, VICE, Hakai Magazine, The Atlantic, and other esteemed publications. She is a recipient of fellowships from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, as well as several awards for visual art.
