Allan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Alamitos California. He practices as an openly gay therapist and finds meaning and purpose by helping LGBTQ+ children, teens, and adults and their family members, figure out their own journey towards healing, acceptance, and self-love. Allan also collaborates with community resources as he recognizes the value and the need for a sense of community. Additionally, Allan enjoys working with individuals and couples to help them find better ways to develop loving, meaningful, and secure connections. Allan graduated from the University of California at Davis in the mid-1990s with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in Human Development. In 2001, Allan completed his master’s in counseling. Then in 2018, Allan completed his master’s in business administration from the California State University at Monterey Bay. Since the late 1990s, Allan has worked closely with underserved populations and has continued supporting access to mental health services to those needing it the most. Over the years, he has worked for various community mental health agencies. Allan has volunteered at the Davis Community Clinic as a HIV Counselor, the Sacramento AIDS Foundation, and the Sacramento LGBTQ Center. In 2018, Allan established his private practice in southern California, where he continues to support diverse populations. Allan’s endeavor to write his first book, Parenting Your LGBTQ+ Teen came into fruition from years of work with children and teens who were facing challenges tied to their sexual orientation and gender identity. Allan hopes his book will reach parental figures who are so desperately seeking guidance to love and affirm their LGBTQ+ teens better.
