Peter Dourmashkin is currently Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at MIT, specializing in the teaching of first-year students at MIT. His research interests are in Mathematical Physics, Lie Group and Algebra Representation Theory. Starting in 2001, he has been part of the development and implementation team for Technology Enabled Active Learning (TEAL), a project to reform first-year physics education at MIT. The TEAL blended learning model combines active and experiential learning in the classroom with online learning sequences based on the MITx platform. Over the course of his teaching career at MIT (1984-present) he has taught at a variety of specialized programs at MIT including the Experimental Study Group, Integrated Studies Program, Seminar XL and Project Interphase both of which are sponsored by the Office of Minority Education. He has also developed a wide variety of seminars including Zen Arts, The Art of Color, and Mathematical Physics for Physicists.
