Kel McBride has a mission, preparing people for the trinity of life: birth, sexuality, and death. She focused on the first two as an archivist in a sexuality-focused research library, an educator for a nonprofit health clinic, and a global training manager for a medical device company.
Now, McBride focuses on death and dying. She helps people consider options, get their wishes in writing, and communicate with those who will handle arrangements. Her clients value her ability to make hard conversations easier and connect people with options that match their values – all with a dose of humor.
She has a powerful drive to live fully after a brush with death in her 20s. With a “make it happen” mindset, she has built a long history of fun events including four Before I Die Festivals, the first non-metro area roller derby team and the biggest Krampus Night celebration in North America. Her diverse interests include travel, TEDx speaking, camping, hosting scavenger hunts and costume parties, hiking in the woods, roller skating, and kayaking.
For McBride, life is good. She also knows it is unpredictable and unreliable so she encourages us all to live it fully and prepare for its end.
