Jackie Greene is a Vietnam-era Marine Corps journalist and has just completed his new book, "From Maggots to Marines: Boot Camp Revisited": a collection of stories from former Marine recruits and drill instructors that detail their funny and insanely interesting recruit training days. Born in rural Mississippi and raised in a small coastal town in Oregon, author Jackie Greene joined the Marine Corps just before his twentieth birthday and later met his wife, Betty Ann, as a sergeant while working at the USMC Public Affairs office in downtown Houston, Texas. Betty was a professional ballerina with the Houston Ballet and Jackie was from a backwoods hick town in Mississippi. Nevertheless, she said yes to a date proposal and they ended up raising two athletic sons and were blessed with five athletically gifted grandchildren. They currently reside in the Vancouver, Washington area while their sons and grandchildren reside on whatever ball field they happen to be playing on next.
