M.J. Finn is an armchair pilot with a life-long interest in the Golden Age of Air Racing. Growing up in Chicago led to basing leading character TJ O’Connell there and provides an opportunity to describe the vibrant, growing city in the heart of the United States that was more than the stomping grounds for Al Capone and other famous criminals. MJ's favorite mystery authors include Alistair MacLean, Lee Child, James Benn, and Anthony Horowitz. MJ lives near the Connecticut shore with his patient and supporting wife, Debbie. Walks on the beach are an enjoyable way to recharge after a day of writing about fast airplanes and shady criminals.
MJ has been researching racing planes, Chicago, and the criminal element of the 1930's for years, accumulating an extensive library of books and materials. Although these items contribute to the historical accuracy of the series, MJ is not done with them yet (much to Debbie's dismay). Look for supporting articles in a variety of online forums, including interest groups on Facebook and our website for the Barnstorm Squadron. Head there for extensive information on planes, locations, and criminals from the Barnstorming Detective Series.
