Rev. Geneece Goertzen is a prolific author on the subject of domestic violence awareness, including numerous articles, a faith leader resource titled, Taking it Seriously, and this book on relationship dynamics. Gen She holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Divinity, both from Baylor University, and is currently a PhD student at the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor, and a Research Fellow for the Center for Church and Community Impact (C3I). She has taught numerous workshops on domestic violence, serves on the board of directors for the local family violence shelter, has testified before the state legislature on bills that affect victims and survivors, and is currently serving on a public policy committee for the state's domestic violence organization. She has researched survivor resiliency, the church’s response to abuse, and how congregations and faith affect healing. As a survivor of more than two decades of abuse, she is passionate about awareness, advocacy, and conducting continued research on this topic. She has turned her pain into a passion for helping others.
