Kavion Robinson is a Jamaican multidisciplinary artist based in New Jersey, USA. Through painting, illustration, mixed media drawing, writing, and photography, Kavion explores black culture, history, and the Jamaican landscape. African diaspora, black history, culture, music, landscape, and figure painting are the primary focus of his work. His first book, Out of Many, One People: The Story of Jamaica Illustrated, focused on illustrative portrait paintings of historical figures that shaped Jamaica into the nation it is today. Kavion holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of the Arts. He is an award-winning painter known for his historical portraits of notable Jamaican figures such as Nanny of the Maroons and Marcus Garvey. His work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Jamaica, Ellarslie Museum, Annex Art Gallery, Perkins Center for the Arts, and Warden's House Gallery, among others. As an author, Kavion is working on his 3rd book. As an illustrator, Kavion has brought over 15 books to life with his artwork, including titles such as Irie the Caterpillar, Zulu the Pupa, and Princess Nanny, to name a few.
