Joan Donati lives in Baltimore and works as a librarian. When not writing about talking animals and plantlife, she enjoys singing, playing the flute and spending time with her family. Her other books include Herbert in the Magic Meadow, Herbert Tales and the Adventures of Herbert, the Sheep. She also has written two volumes of poetry, The Soul of Things and Echoes and Images with nature photography by Jim Donati.
