MaryAnne Kochenderfer started life on a corn farm in Utah, then went on to spend her childhood living in Guatemala, France, Bolivia, and Austria once her father became a diplomat. She chronicled those adventures in her own childhood journals, which she enjoys reading as an adult. MaryAnne lived in Scotland while getting a Ph.D. at the University of Edinburgh after attending Stanford for her undergraduate and masters degrees. She now lives in California with her husband Mykel and their four children, who inspired many of the questions in this book. She loves traveling with her kids, and they go on a road trips most summers. MaryAnne spends her free time with her family, and playing her guitar and singing.
