Rebecca Yarros, the author of ‘Fourth Wing,’ ‘Iron Flame,’ and ‘Onyx Storm,’ shares her favorite recent reads
The third installment in The Empyrean series comes out today, and all I can say is… It. Is. So. Good. But seriously, I can’t say much without spoiling this book, which I would never dream of doing. What I will share is that Yarros’ storytelling is more riveting and expansive than ever, and the stakes couldn’t be higher as Violet and Xaden search the Continent and beyond to save everyone, most especially each other. As compulsively readable as the previous books, Onyx Storm is a fantastic continuation of this riveting series that defies genres and expectations. It was our top Romance pick for January, and it’s likely to be the best-selling book of the year (and need I remind you it’s only January!).
The Amazon Editors count themselves as part of Yarros’ millions of fans, and we’re so excited about her latest, so we asked her what she’s read and loved lately. This is what she said—it might surprise you!
And don’t forget to tune in to Amazon Live on Thursday, January 23, at 11am ET for our interview with Yarros.

This short and powerful read packs a punch, and, like all of Rushdie’s work, there is a sly and wry comedy that lurks throughout—despite the fact that it’s a memoir about how he was almost murdered. —Amazon Editors

I’m a sucker for anything epistolary, and this is no exception. It hooked me from the first chapter with intriguing world building and a fabulous premise, and kept me with its rival-enemies romance. —Rebecca Yarros
Fun fact: This was an Editors’ Pick in 2019, when it published—and went on to win Nebula, Locus, and Hugo Awards, and Amazon and NPR named it one of the Best Books of the Year. Our reviewer wrote: “Emotionally riveting (and sometimes ravaging), Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone’s slim tale of love and loyalty, despite time and place, packs a wallop.” —Amazon Editors
A fabulous new romantasy that kept me turning pages with its wonderful prose. Rachel can do no wrong! —Rebecca Yarros
