Most anticipated romance books of winter and spring 2025, as chosen by the Amazon Editors
Every year, for no reason at all, I worry that we’re going to run out of romances. And every year I am happily proven wrong. This is one my favorite lists to put together, as there are so many fantastic new romance novels coming out. Whether you like romantic comedies, romantasies, Regencies, or all of the above, there’s something for everyone to add to their TBR. And for the books we’re currently reading and loving, check out our Best Romance Books of the Month.
I officially have my first book crush of 2025, and it’s thanks to Beg, Borrow, or Steal, the third novel in the When in Rome series (can be read as a standalone). It follows second-grade teachers and sworn enemies Emily Walker and Jack Bennett. Emily likes to be in control and take care of everything in her own way, which is of course the best way. Jack, on the other hand, is charm personified, and the most infuriating person Emily’s ever met. When he unexpectedly moves back to her small town and right across the street, Emily vows to turn everyone against him. But when Jack is suddenly the only person she can turn to for help (excellent hijinks ensue), they both realize that meeting your match might not be a bad thing. Like everyone, I was completely charmed by Jack and how he adored Emily’s vulnerabilities as much as her strengths. This enemies-to-lovers romcom caught me off guard with its tenderness and heart. Forced proximity via hurricane? After reading this sexy, heartfelt, second-chance romance, I can confirm it works. In a big way. Meena has flown back to her home state of Texas on a mission: get her estranged husband Nikhil to finally sign divorce papers so she can move on with her life and career in DC. There’s just one hiccup—she’s flown in just as a hurricane approaches, and the only place she can stay is the home she happily, and then unhappily, shared with Nikhil all those years ago after they spontaneously eloped. Trapped together, they have to reckon with their past…and their undeniable chemistry that’s a force of nature all its own. This book beautifully reckons with the question—do you risk a second chance when you know what’s at stake, or is that the very reason you walk away? (January 14) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
The third book in The Empyrean series is finally here, and all I can say is… It. Is. So. Good. But seriously, I can’t say much without spoiling this book, which I would never dream of doing. What I will share is that Yarros’s storytelling is more riveting and expansive than ever, and the stakes couldn’t be higher as Violet and Xaden search the Continent and beyond to save everyone—most especially, each other. I fell more in love with every character, including, and most especially, the dragons. As compulsively readable as the previous books, Onyx Storm is a fantastic continuation of this riveting series that defies genres and expectations. (January 21) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Alexandra Vasti has become one of my favorite historical romance authors. Her books are a delight to read, with strong heroines, hijinks, and delectable leading men. Earl Crush follows Lydia Hope-Wallace, a woman ahead of her time, and grumpy Scottish earl Arthur who sees how truly spectacular she is. Fun, spicy, an absolute romp. I know it’s only January, but I suspect Deep End will be one of my favorite romances of the year. A college romance unlike any I’ve read before, it’s refreshingly honest, vulnerable, and sexy in a way that surprised me. Scarlett is a diver at Stanford recovering from an injury and holding herself to impossibly high standards. Lukas is a composed, world-champion swimmer and captain of the Stanford swim team. When a secret is revealed, it turns out that Scarlett and Lukas have more in common than she thought. And what starts as a mutually agreed upon arrangement becomes so much more. I eagerly dove into the deep end with this book, and I have no regrets. (February 4) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Music fans, you are in for a treat! The cover looks like R&B crooner Usher is serenading a lucky woman, and I am 100% here for it. This is the third book in The Greene Sisters series and in my opinion the best of them all. Iris and Angel do a melodious tango that will make the hardest hearts swoon. Iris can think of a million reasons why Angel is not right for her, but will it be enough to keep him away? (February 4) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
If you’re a fan of steamy small-town romances, Elsie Silver is the romance author you need in your life. Fans of Lucy Score and Ana Huang will love the relatable characters and funny banter. I was swept away with the first two books in the Rose Hill series—Wild Love and Wild Eyes. This forced proximity enemies-to-lovers is sure to check all the trope boxes while making you swoon. I’m sure I will go absolutely wild when I’m able to crack open Wild Side. (March 4) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
“A Gilmore Girls meets Schitt’s Creek redemption romcom.” That tagline is all I need to be more than a little excited for Lucy Score’s latest book, about a romance author with writer’s block who moves to a small town to get inspired, and does, in more ways than one. If you can’t find me in March, it’s because I’m cozied up somewhere reading this book. Please do not disturb. (March 11) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
An adult debut from beloved YA author Alex Aster (the Lightlark series), this romantic comedy seems like the perfect way to kick off summer (yes, it’s January and I’m ready for summer). Playwright Elle has a chance of a lifetime to deliver a screenplay for a big budget movie. The only problem is the writer’s block she’s been battling. AND she’s unwittingly moved to an apartment right beside her lover-to-enemy Parker. But when seeing him again magically cures her writer’s block, and he needs a fake relationship, they come to an agreement. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s just for the summer… (March 25) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Known for her style of pairing realistic fiction with romance, Abby Jimenez is back with two new releases that are bound to tug at your heart strings. The Fall Risk is a short story available March 1, and her next novel, Say You’ll Remember Me, is out April 1. Both contain a mix of laughter, a bit of lust, and a heavy dose of love. Jimenez’s writing creates a pull, making each story impossible to put down. I’m still waiting to get my hands on The Fall Risk, but I gobbled up Say You’ll Remember Me in just a few sittings—a true “just one more page” type of read. (April 1) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
It’s been three years since Jasmine Guillory’s last release. This ex-lawyer-turned New York Times best-selling author has been a little busy serving as co-executive producer of an upcoming series based on her last novel, Drunk on Love. Guillory is doing something a little new this time with her first sapphic romance. Flirting Lessons has a gorgeous cover with Guillory’s signature bold colors and two sexy silhouettes. Between the cover and the setting in Napa Valley, the Amazon Editors are wondering if there is a series brewing? Readers should look forward to Guillory’s fun-loving characters and easy banter in this long-awaited release. (April 8) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
The hold this western romance series has on me can’t be overstated, and I’m mildly devastated it’s coming to an end. The last in the Rebel Blue Ranch series, Wild and Wrangled follows Dusty and Cam, first loves who’ve gone their separate ways. But when they end up neighbors in beautiful Meadow Lark, they can’t deny that there is still something between them. I plan to savor being transported back to Wyoming with its incredible views and sexy, vulnerable cowboys. (April 15) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Emily Henry has said that writing this book challenged and consumed her like nothing has in years. Considering that her books always deliver not just charm, wit, and romance, but also depth and nuance, my expectations are sky high. Great Big Beautiful Life follows two writers competing to tell the story of an infamous figure who hasn’t been seen in years. I expect my heart to be broken and then put back together in the graceful way only Henry can. (April 22) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Ana Huang is already having a year. It was just announced that Netflix acquired the rights to her uber popular Twisted Love series, and the final book of her Kings of Sin series comes out this spring. Huang wondered: what would it be like to create a male love interest who epitomizes each one of the seven deadly sins? The result has been a group of flawed yet sexy billionaire lovers we can’t help but root for. The next and last sin is covered in King of Envy—and I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what Huang has in store for us this time. (April 29) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
One of the most anticipated romances of the year, I cannot wait to be swept away by the newest from Carley Fortune. Her writing is lush and her love stories achingly beautiful. One Golden Summer follows photographer Alice, who decides to spend a summer with her grandmother at the lake from her childhood. She’s not expecting Charlie Florek, the shameless flirt she remembers from when she was seventeen who looks at her like he actually sees her. I’m prepared to swoon. (May 6) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
With so many romantasies out there, it can be hard to stand out, but Danielle L. Jensen’s gripping A Fate Inked In Blood, the first in the Saga of the Unfated duology, did just that with its unique world, riveting characters, and forbidden love story. In a world of Vikings and powers bestowed by gods, Freya must choose her destiny at any cost. Book one ended with so many threads unraveled, I cannot wait for A Curse Carved in Blood to discover how this fantasy ends. (May 13) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Kennedy Ryan could write a legal contract and I would read every single word. Author Abby Jimenez said this about Ryan’s Can’t Get Enough: “I will be buying this masterpiece in every format, I literally can’t wait…” Ryan, author of This Could Be Us, Amazon Editors’ Best Romance of 2024, is back with the third book in the Skyland series, and I couldn’t be more excited. The series doesn’t need to be read in order, but if you haven’t read the first two, don’t walk, RUN to pick them up. The series following three friends as they each experience the ups and downs of life—and in this book we hear Hendrix’s story. I have no doubt Ryan will bring the emotional depth that creates a reading experience like no other. I’ve said before that her writing puts me in a trance, she is just that good. (May 13) —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
We love Katherine Center for her light-hearted, endearing romantic comedies that feel classic and fresh at the same time. Her newest sounds like a perfect escape. The Love Haters follows Katie, who is profiling Coast Guard rescue swimmer Hutch in order to keep her job. There are just a couple problems: Katie can’t swim, and Hutch is the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. No matter, these self-avowed love haters can handle it. I’m expecting to laugh and swoon in equal measure, and Center never disappoints. (May 20) —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
