It's not as bad as the negative reviews posted, READ....This is a great piece of equipment to have, really; in spite of me giving only one star. 😊🙂😉I suffer from severe Raynauds disease, with such symptoms as purple fingers and toes from a loss of blood circulating through my extremities, ice cold and tingling numbness and throbbing pain 24/7. A pair of hand warmers sounds like a great idea. And so I spent hours reading reviews on tens of hand warmers, mostly one and two star reviews. It certainly looks like they may be the answer if only I could find a pair that would give what was promised in the advertisements, which based on tens and tens of reviews sounded ever more doubtful. It appears that manufacturers weren't taking the need of consumers, their need for a well performing product hand warmers, seriously. Such a disappointment. In the end I decided that in spite of the many negative reviews I needed something better than the disposable hand warmers, which simply got too hot and too expensive, plus another source for garbage disposal. That choice came with a few surprises. Surprised me big time. Many negative reviews may stem from a lack of knowledge caused by a poorly written instruction manual, like not explaining the function of the AI!This is what I learned through it's use and patience:#1 - Once the two heaters are charged fully, I actually could unplug the parking/charging box from the connection to my power source, because the individual heater will recharge whenever I put it back in the box for most of a 24 hour day. So you can take the charger with you wherever you will need a refill, even in your coat pocket.#2 - When not in use, meaning in your hands warming, they shut themselves down to preserve its power/charge. So if I lay down one or both heaters, not using it, which means moving/manipulating them occasionally, it or them will turns itself of to conserve the charge. When I picked it up to use again all I needed to do was reactivate it by pressing the white button. The individual units need not be placed into its charger when it has stopped heating your hands, it/they just need to be turned back on. This is actually very helpful saving power when on the slopes for instance. 💓 This action is manages by the AI.#3 - When holding in my hand, activated on channel one, (one red light for low heat, two red lights for medium heat, and three red lights for VERY hot), it almost instantly reaches that temperature setting, warming my fingers. AFTER a few minutes, about 2 minutes or so, it automatically adjust/lowers its temperature without shutting down, then a few seconds/a minute or so, it turns the heat back up. As long as you are using it to heat your fingers/hand it will continue this routine. ***I believe this is where most negative reviews stemmed from, not understanding this action taken by the AI to again reserve the changes, and it (AI) also automatically shuts down when no longer used/manipulated or when laid aside, the AI shuts off to preserve the charge for later use without needing to be constantly recharged. It's unfortunate for the seller that this is not remarked on in the instruction pamphlet!#4 - When fully charged, neither unit needs to be placed into the charge box for a recharge, I can park it in my pocket until needed again. But while in use it will cycle through up and down in heat output AS LONG as I am MOVING the unit every so often, which informs the AI that it's in use, not to shut down. Some negatives for my personal needs:#1 -The charger box is hard to open for anyone who has Raynauds or just weak fingertips. I fixed that by taping a couple of small pieces of tape over the snap inside the lid. Works like a charm!#2 - The individual units are incredibly slippery! I don't know if this is just the Raynauds disease which causes a severe loss of feeling in the finger tips, or for everyone. This makes taking the unit out of its charger a tremendous challenge and using them, moving them around in my hands. I have to take great care moving them. I haven't figured out how to fix that yet. When I'm not wearing mittens, individuals suffering with Raynauds s must keep the extremities warm as much as possible, I wear thick mittens. Mittens, because regular gloves cause/increase pressure and restrict the much needed blood flow/circulation through the finger tips which can cause serious problems and increased pain. So mittens it is and the hand warmers fit perfectly inside them, won't run off, slip out of my hands, and I don't have to chase after them because them escaping from my grasp. But wearing mittens makes many jobs impossible, such as chopping up an onion for instance or brushing my teeth, well just about everything really. This really needs fixing. But - overall, I love my warm hands, fingers, even though it's definitely a challenge. After I figured everything out, accounting for the two issues, this product deserves a 3 star review. Understanding sometimes makes all the difference.0
