AC Craft is a nom de plume. What inspires my books? Wild, wide-open spaces and adventure. I have lived all my life in Africa, hence my love of wild, wide-open spaces. I read every Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey book in my youth. As a teenager, my family owned five horses. I rode most days in the bush behind our house. My parents wouldn’t let me pack a six-gun and have a Winchester in its scabbard on the saddle for some reason. I guess you can’t have everything. Africa still has much of the Wild West in it. As I write Westerns, I think, 'Hey, that’s still happening here where I live.' My hobbies are reading, aviation, and spending time in the African bush. Aviation epitomizes wide open spaces and freedom. I held a commercial pilot's license and instructor's rating until the six-month medical became an issue. I still maintain my interest in aviation. In summary, I am a romantic who loves flying, wide-open spaces, Westerns, and the African bush. My first five books reflect my love of flying and the African bush. My next books are Westerns because I love reading and writing Westerns, and the Wild West has much in common with Africa. With each book, sales, or lack thereof, and feedback from readers force me to look for ways to improve my writing. I hope each book improves on the previous one, although it doesn’t always seem to work like that. Thank you for buying my books and giving feedback. My goal is to one day write a book that fully absorbs the reader, and they wonder where time and all their troubles went.
