Don Tebbe is one of America's most experienced nonprofit leadership succession consultants. Since founding his consulting practice in 1993, he’s helped hundreds of nonprofit leaders plan for and manage turnover in their chief executive position. He's the author of the award-winning book, "Chief Executive Transitions: How to Hire and Support a Nonprofit CEO," published by BoardSource, and "The Nonprofit CEO Succession Roadmap: Your Guide for the Journey to Life's Next Chapter." In the early 2000s, he was part of a national group of thought leaders brought together by the Annie E. Casey Foundation to explore better practices for nonprofit leadership succession. As part of this project, he was one of the principal architects of the Executive Transition Management model, a comprehensive approach to managing CEO turnover. Early in his career, he served as a nonprofit chief executive and five-time interim CEO, where he experienced first-hand the challenges of executive succession.
