Gabrielle Elise Jimenez, ("Gabby") is a hospice nurse, an end-of-life doula, a death and dying educator, an author, blogger, and she has a social media platform of over 140,000. She didn't always do this work, but after helping to care for a friend who was dying, she changed her whole life by going back to school in her late forties to become a nurse, with a desire to work in hospice. While she did not know it back then, she now sees that this was her path all along and she has found her passion. Gabby places high regard on the wishes of the patient, finding out what is most important to them and those who love them, and does her best to honor them. Dignity and respect come first always. She walks through each door with tips and tools to help educate, support, and comfort all who are present, hoping to honor curiosity, while removing fear and uncertainty. She practices listening and presence in such a way that she is constantly being reminded that this is not about her, which allows each experience to truly be unique and individually that of the dying person. Her goal is to help improve the way human beings are cared for when they die, and when they grieve. Gabby teaches classes both over ZOOM and in-person covering topics such as hospice/end-of-life care, end-of-life doula training, ritual and ceremony, grief, and self-care. Gabby can be found on her "The Hospice Heart" website.
