Getty Ambau was born and raised in an isolated countryside in the highlands of Gojjam in northern Ethiopia. At age nineteen, he came to the United States for his education, studied molecular biophysics, biochemistry, and economics at Yale University, and later earned an advanced business degree. He has worked in research labs and run his own companies, but writing has always been his calling. Getty's passion for writing is as strong as his academic pursuits in the sciences. He is captivated by words' sound and chameleon nature, their power to uplift a spirit, tell a compelling story, or make a lasting impression on a reader. This deep-seated love for words drives Getty's enjoyment of writing fiction, the thrill of creating something out of nothing using the power of language. He is the author of the Desta series, which has received recognition and several awards. DESTA AND King Solomon's COIN OF MAGIC AND FORTUNE (Vol. 1) won Moonbeam's Young Adult Book Award and Independent Publishers Children's Book Award. DESTA AND WINDS OF WAHSAA UMERA (Vol. 2) was featured in the digital and print copies of Kirkus Magazine. DESTA: TO WHOM LIONS BOW (Vol. 3), is also a Moonbeam's Young Adult Award winner. DESTA: Roots (Vol. 4) has yet to be entered into competition. DESTA AND THE GREAT MYSTERY (Vol. 5) took second place in the Pencraft Book Awards international competition and was a finalist with the National Indie Excellence Awards. Like Harry Potter or The Book Thief, these books are enjoyed by readers of all ages and from all walks of life. Getty Ambau's literary success extends beyond fiction. He is the author of four health and nutrition books, two of which have achieved international bestseller status among a network of nutrition product distributors. His book, THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD NUTRITION, even became a textbook for a master's program in trichology, a testament to his expertise and influence in the field. He has over a dozen videos on YouTube, some animations based on his novels. You will find them entertaining. Writing his Ethiopian Foods and Drinks book was enormously gratifying to him. During his research and writing, he learned a great deal about the attributes that make Ethiopian cuisine and beverages truly special, healthy, and tasty. He also enjoyed writing about his mother's cooking, recipes, and preparatory techniques. Getty lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Rosario.
