James is a former teacher who discovered writing by accident. He started with a blog on late Georgian History ( WordPress- About1816) and sent some of it to a publisher who accepted it first time. He acknowledges that he have been very lucky in that regard!. These two chapters -on adultery and suicide- led to a 22 chapter book called 'Dark Days of Georgian Britain' It is a social history of the poor with examples of how society was stacked against them. His interests are the period 1600-1660 in Britain, and the late Georgian/ Early Victorian period 1780-1840. He has also written three books on the English Civil War, with the latest one in October 2020. The English Civil War in Fact and Fiction is an introduction to the subject; The book on Oliver Cromwell is a novel twist to the idea of biography, mediated through the places he lived, ruled and fought and the new book is a panoramic study of all 59 signatories to the death warrant of Charles I. One more book is in the pipeline for 2021, and two more in 2022. One is Georgian, one Georgian and Victorian and one is a foray into late Victorian times, which is a new area.
