“Saving one bird will not change the world, but it would change the world for that one bird.” The concept of Birdhism hatched when founder/designer Jen Budrock spent time volunteering with both wildlife and companion bird rescue groups. For over 10 years, she has shared her home and life with a large variety of birds including, but not limited to those with special needs: birds like the goodest boi, Cody the Lovebird. Through these experiences, she began to realize how misunderstood birds are in regards to their complex emotional, environmental, and physical needs. She very much wished for this to change. With Jen’s mission to make the misunderstood understood, education and community outreach has been the main focuses of Birdhism since before it officially started in 2014. Birdhism strives to make learning about bird care fun with cute informational resources both online and off, using her “Chubby Bird” characters. Beyond sharing the Word of Bird, one of Birdhism’s primary goals is to be able to make a greater financial impact on sanctuary, rescue, and conservation efforts, especially organizations that go the extra mile to help birds like Cody.
