Matthew Everhard

关于作者

Dr. Matthew Everhard is one of the most well-known Jonathan Edwards scholars in the world, having contributed to some of the most important Edwards-related publications available today, including serving as the General Editor for the forthcoming Jonathan Edwards Study Bible (Thomas Nelson), the first ever of its kind. His newest book is entitled Worshiptainment: The Modern Church's Golden Calf (Indy-Ref), an assault on the amalgamation of holy worship and secular entertainment. Before that, he republished his doctoral dissertation entitled, A Theology of Joy: Jonathan Edwards and Eternal Happiness in the Holy Trinity (INDY-REF). He has also contributed to some of the most influential Edwards-related publications in print including the Edwards Encyclopedia (Eerdmans), the Miscellanies Companion series (JESociety), and the New Directions in Jonathan Edwards series (V&R). His 2021 book on Edwards's "Resolutions" is one of the most complete studies on this topic available in print (Hendrickson). He has written dozens of articles on Edwards, and his popular works can be found in such places as Desiring God, Modern Reformation, Bible Study Magazine, Gentle Reformation, and Logos Academic. Everhard is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Gospel Fellowship PCA, a Reformed, Bible-believing church in the historic Ascension Presbytery in Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Everhard is a graduate Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando, FL), Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland, Ohio) and Malone University (Canton, Ohio). During his course of study at ATS Matthew concentrated in the field of Spiritual Formation. As an undergraduate at Malone, Matthew majored in Bible and Theology. While at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), Matthew did a directed study on Jonathan Edwards, and wrote his doctoral dissertation on Edwards's theology of joy, supervised by Dr. Michael Allen. Matthew was born on the Lord's Day at around 10:30 in the morning (church time!) in the Rustbelt city of Akron. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, a Northeastern Ohio town famous for its beautiful "crooked river," scenic falls, and quaint midwestern sensibilities. Native Ohioans, he and his lovely wife Kelly have three children. Matthew is deeply committed to world missions, having served on the mission fields of Equatorial Guinea (Central West Africa), El Salvador (five times), Mexico (four times), Ukraine, the Bahamas, Scotland, Thailand, and the Cayman Islands.  Besides preaching, teaching, and writing, Matthew enjoys walking with the family and playing boardgames or sitting on the porch with the children.
