Maureen Parker is an experienced educator from Ontario, Canada with a passion for both science and education. She earned her Master of Science in Biochemistry with a specialization in Human and Molecular Genetics from the University of Ottawa in 2010, with research that focused on a rare X-linked disorder. She then transitioned into education and has experience teaching both Science and Math in all levels from middle school to college. Maureen has a passion for seeing the world and spent many years teaching abroad. She taught in the Federated States of Micronesia, Italy, and while sailing around the world on a tall ship before returning to Canada to start a family and continue teaching. She is known as a creative and passionate teacher who is dedicated to empowering students through a student-centred teaching philosophy anchored in strong relationships. Maureen is skilled at designing engaging and meaningful learning experiences to reach every learner at their level. Her workbooks have been designed to offer students simplified, straightforward lessons and scaffolded practice to supplement what they learn in class. Maureen lives in the greater Toronto area with her husband and their two kids (+ dog and bearded dragon!). She loves doing escape rooms, playing softball, and exploring the forest for interesting insects and fungi.
