TERRY MCCAFFREY is a national award-winning graphic designer whose career spanned over 5 decades. Upon graduating from the Corcoran School of Art and Design in Washington, DC, he began a career in graphic design and for the next 40 years worked in that capacity for the U.S. Postal Service. His work included hundreds of lobby and workroom posters, magazines, brochures and stamp products and promotional material. The last 20 years of his career was spent as design director for the stamp program. During his tenure he oversaw the development of all stamp and stationery items issued which numbered in excess of 2,500, approximately one half of all stamps issued from its inception in 1847. An independent documentary film featuring him, and his design staff, exploring the stamp development process, was produced, and aired nationwide on PBS stations. The stamp images produced under his direction have been honored with numerous museum exhibitions nationwide, including the Smithsonian Institutions.
