Vicki Hird MSc FRES (@vickihird), author of the new book 'Rebugging the Planet', is a major bug lover and wrote the book to help everyone anywhere do some rebugging - helping the invertebrates back into our lives. She is also Head of Sustainable Farming for Sustain, and has over 30 years’ experience working on environment, food and farming issues. She is an award winning campaigner and expert consultant for NGOs and institutions (including work for RSPB and Greenpeace International, and ActionAid). She has degrees in Biology (BSc) and pest management (MSc) and is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. Vicki's previous activities heading up the Land use, Food and Water Programme for Friends of the Earth and Director of Policy and Campaigns at War on Want. She has launched many major food and environment campaigns – in the UK, EU and internationally, has published numerous reports and articles and is a published author ('Perfectly Safe to Eat?' Women’s Press 2000). Previously she was Policy Director of Sustain, which she formed, and Coordinator of the SAFE Alliance. Vicki is a trustee and was the Chair of Eating Better, was a trustee of Pesticides Action Network and the Keo Foundation, and has sat on numerous government advisory groups over the years. Vicki lives in North London, UK has two boys and a tiny garden full of bugs.
