Richard Riegelman MD, MPH, PhD Richard Riegelman is Professor of Epidemiology-Biostatistics and Medicine and Founding Dean of The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. His education includes an M.D. from the University of Wisconsin plus a M.P.H. and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins. Dr. Riegelman practiced primary care internal medicine for over 20 years. Richard Riegelman has over 70 publications including 6 books for students and practitioners of medicine and public health. Studying a Study and Testing a Test: Reading Evidence-based Health Research now in its 6th edition is widely used to teach evaluation of the health research literature. It has been translated into Spanish and Japanese. His e-book Studying a Study P.R.E.P. Practice Reading Evidence-based Publications is his newest effort to help undergraduates, health professions students, medical students and residents read the clinical research. Dr. Riegelman is editor of the Jones and Bartlett Learning's book series Essential Public Health which includes over 20 textbooks, casebooks, and readers designed to provide texts and ancillary materials for the full range of undergraduate public health courses as well as core masters level courses. His book Public Health 101: Healthy People-Healthy Populations is available as a text, an e-book, and as the interactive Navigate Public Health 101. He has been a member of National Board of Medical Examiners' Task Forces which have worked to include literature reading in the USMLE examination. He was also a member of the MCAT review committee which recommended inclusion of Scientific Inquiry and Reasoning Skills (SIRS) in all the content components of the new MCAT. Dr. Riegelman currently teaches public health, epidemiology, and clinical epidemiology to undergraduates, medical students and masters and doctoral students at The George Washington University.
