First and foremost, I'm a high school teacher from Portland, Oregon, USA. I also walk a lot. My first pilgrimage on Spain's Camino de Santiago took place in May 2002; in the years since, I've rarely had a year pass without another long-distance walk. After leading a couple of student groups on the Camino del Norte and Primitivo, my co-leader and I realized we had a lot of good information to share on those routes, at a time when no English-language guide existed. Before we knew it, we were guidebook authors, and we're very pleased with the newest editions of these guides, published by Cicerone in 2018. Most recently, I have taken on the challenge of walking across the USA on the American Discovery Trail.
