Rick Mapson (1957-) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At an early age explored abandoned building and a old church that was to be torn down. This created a heart for adventure and story. At 6 years old he moved to Bakersfield, California then to Martinez, California a few years later. He started his career in data processing with EDS in San Francisco. In 1983 he and his wife Margaret moved to Wilmington, Delaware and started his family. He has always been a storyteller, especially with his four kids and their friends to teach a lesson. In 1997 his journey started to write his first Novel. Fourteen years later his book became reality. Since then, he has created a chapter books "Coffin Train" and “The Box”. In 2017 he won the Colorado Christian Writers Conference Poetry contest. In 2024 he published Picture Books “The Little Tree Who Whispered Help”, “The Caterpillar Who Dreamt She Could Fly”, and his first poetry book “When My Pen Bleeds”.
