Amorak Huey

A former newspaper editor and reporter, Amorak teaches writing at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Huey is author of three poetry collections: Boom Box (Sundress Publications, 2019), Seducing the Asparagus Queen (Cloudbank Books, 2018, winner of the Vern Rutsala Poetry Prize), and Ha Ha Ha Thump (Sundress Publications, 2015). He also has authored two poetry chapbooks: The Insomniac Circus (Hyacinth Girl, 2014) and A Map of the Farm Three Miles from the End of Happy Hollow Road (Porkbelly Press, 2016). With W. Todd Kaneko, he is co-author of Poetry: A Writers' Guide and Anthology (Bloomsbury Academic, 2018). Huey's poems appear in The Best American Poetry 2012, The Cincinnati Review, The Southern Review, American Poetry Review, Menacing Hedge, and many other print and online journals. He was recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2017. He holds a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College and an M.F.A. from Western Michigan University. Huey has a fondness for Auburn football and basketball, dad jokes, John Sandford novels, the Dodgers, English soccer, and watching his kids play sports and make music.
