Georgia Dunn

关于作者

Georgia Dunn is the cartoonist behind the popular comic strip "Breaking Cat News." Georgia writes and draws BCN weekly, working in pen and ink with watercolors on paper. Georgia was born and raised in Charlestown, RI. She spent her childhood playing in the woods, exploring the swamp and small creek just beyond her backyard, searching for farmhouse ruins and any evidence of ghosts along the low New England rock walls. Her mother was a librarian and served as president of the local town council. Her father was a newspaper photographer, and brought Georgia with him on many assignments. From an early age, Georgia tagged along to work with her parents, sometimes to the library, sometimes to the newsroom. She loved picking out a pile of books and hiding out in the stacks to read and study the illustrations, or watching the soft orange glow of the processing clock in the newspaper darkroom. A love of books and the news began to take hold. By middle school, Georgia was drawing and writing around the clock, filling notebooks with stories and comics. In 2004, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Rhode Island. Georgia worked in group homes and later banking for several years, while illustrating freelance and writing web comics every day after work. In 2014, her comic "Breaking Cat News" began to catch the attention of cat lovers everywhere. The premise of cute cats delivering silly news very seriously caught early audiences off guard, and folks clamored for more broadcasts on empty food bowls, new lamps, cuckoo clocks, delicious plants, ghosts in the attic, and more. The first few strips spread across Reddit and Twitter like an adorable, whiskered storm of laughs. Within months, the comic was syndicated by Andrews McMeel and being prepped for newspapers. Today Georgia lives in the Pacific Northwest, with her family and many cats. She hopes to write BCN for many, many years to come!
