At 14 years of age, I decided my professional path was that of a psychotherapist. I was intuitively counseling others already, so this was a perfect fit. After turning down acceptance for a PhD in Clinical and School Psychology for fear of writing a dissertation, I pursued a Master Degree in Social Work and graduated in May of 1989. I moved to Tucson, Arizona, after completing a Post-Master's Internship at the Caron Foundation's 5 1/2 day residential program for codependency and childhood trauma. I honed my clinical skills as a primary, family and float therapist in 30 day residential treatment centers in the Southwest. I traveled the U.S. between 1994 and 2004, training mental health and allied professionals in identifying and working with child, adolescent and adult victims/survivors of sexual abuse. I was lucky enough to teach in every one of the 50 states and taught over 800 day long seminars in that time. After my son graduated high school in 2012, I decided it was time to get the certification in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy I had been training for since the late 1980's. I received my certification in February of 2015 and am currently leading up to five psychodrama groups per week, loving every minute of it. My fear of writing also kept me from penning Covert Emotional Incest:The Hidden Sexual Abuse until I was hooked up with my editor in 2016. This is the second book I was meant to write. The first is 12 Healing Steps for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse; A Practical Guide. I have always known one of my main purposes is to educate others about CEI and let them know they can heal from it. I am so grateful to have this book available to the public. I no longer fear writing. It is hard work and there is help available. I do not have to allow fear to hold me back from my dreams ever again.
