Erick Kivelege

关于作者

My name is Christopher Hurst. I wrote the Kilimanjaro Book with my friend Eric Kivelege from Tanzania. I also recently published Fourteen Battle Stars about the American destroyer USS Hughes in WWII. My uncle, Glen Edmonson, was the Gunnery Lieutenant on the USS Hughes when it was hit in Leyte Gulf by a kamikaze on December 10, 1944. Glen is also the one who hid the Japanese samurai sword in a house somewhere in the Seattle area, a location he never disclosed before he died and was buried in Port Angeles, Washington, some years ago. I am also an FAA-certified Airline Transport Pilot. I spent 25 years as a commissioned law enforcement Detective before retiring as the Commander of a 15-city Homicide/Violent Crimes Task Force. I was also elected to the Washington State House of Representatives and served there for 14 years. I am retired and write books from my mountain home in Greenwater, Washington, near Mount Rainier. I live with my wife, April, with whom I go on adventures. We travel and have summited mountains, including Kilimanjaro twice, and SCUBA dive in Hawaii, Key West, and Grand Cayman. We also spend time fishing the waters of Northern Vancouver Island. My second book is called Gun Guide For Democrats - How To Avoid A Second American Civil War. All Americans should read this book in light of our current state of affairs and growing gun culture. Here is a message from my friend and co-author, Erick Kivelege: Jambo Rafiki! That means "Hello Friend!" in Swahili. I was born and raised here in Moshi Town, Tanzania, in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. I am a professional licensed Mountain Climbing Guide by the Tanzanian National Parks. Climbing Kilimanjaro and taking people to its remarkable summit of 19,341 feet, all the way to Uhuru Peak, has been my life's work. I have taken thousands of people there and have summited many more than 500 times. This book will tell you so much more than any other guide or climbing book about Tanzania. No other book will give you more than a tiny fraction of what you will find in my book. I look forward to seeing you when you come to climb Kilimanjaro here in Tanzania and to see the wonders of East Africa. I am on the mountain most days during the busy climbing seasons, but I take a break when the rains come. When I see you on the trail, I will greet you with "Jambo!" and "Asante Sana" for buying this book! You will be very welcome when you travel here, or even just read and enjoy this book about my homeland!
