Jason Pettus is a freelance developmental editor for self-publishing and small-press authors. Before that he was the founder and owner of the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography, which published 40 books in the 2000s and ’10s, including winners or finalists for half a dozen national awards (including the Pushcart Prize and the Lambda Award for LGBTQ literature), with the center itself named one of the 10 best indie presses in the United States by both BookRiot.com and Poets & Writers magazine. Prior to that Pettus was a novelist and slam poet himself, whose appearances included National Public Radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Channel, WGN-TV, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Poetry Slam championships, where he placed second in the United States in 1997 as part of the Green Mill team.
