Herbert A. Raffaele is the author of many books including Wildlife of the Caribbean; Birds of the West Indies; Birds of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands; and Birds, Beasts, and Bureaucrats. He is former chief of the Division of International Conservation at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service where he implemented international treaties, led efforts to conserve flagship species such as tigers, elephants, and gorillas, and collaborated in conservation projects around the world. His latest book, Re-voyage of the Mayflower: Societal Values -- Conservation's Missing Link, is now available.
