Kari studied animation at Emily Carr and worked as an animator for a long time before she started making books. Over the years, she has also taught art and animation to kids and adults and she currently mentors students at Vancouver Film School. Kari lives in an old house on the west coast of Canada with her husband, two kids and a dog named Rolo. Tricky, Kari’s first book, was nominated for a Chocolate Lily Book Award, and an Ontario Library Association, Blue Spruce Award. Her second book, The House at the End of the Road, was also nominated for a Chocolate Lily Award, as well as a Sheila Barry Best Canadian Picturebook of the Year Award.
