Alexis Caulfield was born in Stavros on the Isle of Crete in Greece in 1963. After working with his father as a fisherman in his early adult life, he migrated to the US and set up a restaurant in Astoria, New York. He fell in love with America, married and had a family of 5 children. After retiring, he migrated with his wife and youngest daughter to Australia in 2019 and wrote his first novel; "The Beating Room". The novel in his own words “is a work steeped in a temperamental balance between hope and despair”. He and his wife now live with their blue cattle dog “Cindy” at the beach at Crescent Head, New South Wales, Australia.
