Jim Murphy is a Performance Coach (mental skills) to the best professional athletes and leaders in the world.
Jim played professional baseball in the Chicago Cubs organization, coached with the Texas Rangers as well as in the Olympic Games. For his Masters Degree in Coaching Science, he interviewed 39 MLB GM’s, field managers and coaches on how to build a championship team.
Jim has coached some of the world’s best golfers including world champions, FedEx Cup champions and world #1’s. The majority of Jim’s clients in every sport, individuals or team, have the best year of their careers in their first year working with Jim (or best in the previous five years).
In addition to coaching professional athletes and executives, Jim leads Inner Excellence offsite retreats at beautiful locations around the world. Jim is the president of the Inner Excellence Freedom Project whose mission is to build communities to alleviate spiritual and physical poverty around the world.

Since getting the book a few days ago, I'm having a hard time putting the book down (even reading it in between my sets as I'm training.) I read a lot and can't think of a more valuable, insightful book on becoming the best version of yourself (to help others become the best version of themselves.) The book will transform the way you think about what's important in life - so you live your best life.
Right out of the gate, a few KEY concepts that stuck with me, so far:
"The problem is not the problem, the problem is the way you're thinking about it."
"There's no failure, only feedback."
"All things are here to teach me and help me - it's all working for my good."
"Raise your level of excellence in order to raise it in others."
I could go on here....
Can't remember underlining, highlighting, and note taking so much reading a book for the first time.

2025年1月15日在美国发布评论I honestly purchased recently after seeing AJ Brown reading on the sideline. I’m a big fan of self-help books. This is one I see myself putting into practice everyday. The principles are easy and I’m able to apply them to my daily life. It is a great motivation reminder. This will become another gift I give as graduation gifts.

2025年1月14日在美国发布评论As part of the monthly reading club, this was recently recommended to me by a thought leader in striving to be the best, Arthur Brown. He usually finds good reads just be reading on a bench and letting time fly by. He loves playing with the birds and yet finds calm and purpose in reading. Brown was a consensus 4-star prospect by the major recruiting services. One other talent is, in 2022, Brown provided vocals on the Christmas album A Philly Special Christmas. He is a devout Christian and has strong beliefs. This book turns your life into purpose much like David Coggins book. IT helps you find your place, stay in your lane focus, and yet still thrive to be the best person you can be. After reading and also using the audio book, I was able to visualize my goals to be the best and my team to be the best. Hard work is just part of it and this book takes you to the next level. Just ask Hurts, Smitty, Barkely, Malata, Lane, Landon, Cam and even the new guys Baun and Becton. A magical inspiring book recommended by the whole team. The book dives really deep and make you thing while reading basically each sentence about your life in the past and even right now. We all need to read this book.

I know how hard that is because I started mine in 2010, and it took me 14 years. Second thing I want to say is thank you for being one of the few people in this world who recognize that winning is NOT everything. I feel like I have yearned to read a book like this for such a long time. Not sure if this is in the works but they should definitely make a movie out of your book. Beautifully done and very inspiring to the human soul.

This book helps me stay focussed, even when the target share is not what I would like in a wildcard game and a tush push variation play that would have been housed for a TD didn't come off. I always focus on the next drive and my bigger goals, and the larger goals and priorities of the collective. This book has ensured that I am always ready. Always open.

I read the first edition as well and this new revised edition is more enjoyable to read with updated content, great examples and quotes from world-class athletes and other inspirational people, as well as useful summaries at the end of each chapter.
The Presuppositions chapter promises us the Best Possible Life:
Most of us have been playing the wrong game our entire lives.
We’ve been focusing on short-term wins, temporary happiness,
and surface-level achievements, when we were created for so
much more. We’ve been playing a zero-sum, finite game, with
a winner and a loser, a beginning and an end, when it’s really an
infinite one. Life is meant to be a journey connecting with others,
growing together, discovering new and amazing things, rather
than a game of constant comparison and competition, always
trying to fit in or be successful. We’ve been setting our sights
too low, going for the low-hanging fruit on a single bush, when
entire orchards await.
Which game have you been playing?
The best possible life—absolute fullness of life—is one with
extraordinary experiences, deep, meaningful relationships, and,
most of all: love, joy and peace. These three “resources” lead to
an abundance of fruit that multiplies into so much more: peace
