My First Amazon Review
This is my 9th book, I read by this author. I started reading this book at 10:45am January 28th finished at 12:32am January 29th. It starts out with Tegan in legal negotiation with the father of her unborn child, as she is goes to see her brother. Tegan ends up getting into a crash. A large man saves her, she has nothing to fear from a helpful person, right? Or does she? He ends up taking her home instead of to the hospital which is where he should have taken her. His wife had an incident a few years prior that makes you wonder who is the true villian in the story. In the end, Tegan has her baby and ends up in better circumstances then when she started.

I had fun reading this, but I was never in doubt of what would eventually happen. This is because I've read so many Freida McFadden books that I don't fear for the main characters anymore. The twist was obvious, but again, this is because McFadden has a style that's predictable after reading two or three of her books. I still love her stories!

What I didn't like about this one is how dumb the main character is. She's a terrible judge of character, and in the end, when she gets her happily ever after, it's obvious to me that the lawyer is after her money. This was obvious in the beginning, too. Poor, dumb Tegan. Still dumb as a bag of rocks.

*Almost* too stupid to be alive, lol.

Somewhere in the middle, I started skipping Tegan's chapters. She was boring. Polly, though a villain through and through, was much more interesting to read. Also, there was a forced dramatic moment in the book, where Polly invites Tegan's brother into the home for coffee. Yeah, I skipped that too.

C'mon, McFadden. Every time the police show up, the main characters are never found out. Nothing ever happens. It's all fake, forced suspense. And Polly inviting the brother in was unrealistic. It felt cheesy and bad, in a soap opera kind of way.

I'm taking a break from McFadden, as she's become predictable and unrealistic.

BUT this was still a good read. I liked Polly and her husband. I skipped some chapters, but generally McFadden won't leave you bored. If this is your first book of hers, you'll probably enjoy it.

Ah Freida. All of her books read very easy and quick and keep the reader involved and wanting more every chapter. This one did not disappoint. Told in alternating viewpoints and timelines this is the story of a young woman involved in an accident and what comes afterwards. Without giving too much away, the twist comes rather early, but keeps the readers’ interest nonetheless. I look forward to her next book.

This book is okay. It’s long and drawn out and then it has a good twist at the end which brought the rating up slightly. This book made me more anxious and annoyed then captivated & interested. I did skim many chapters bc it was painful to read. Not that the writing is bad. It was the characters and their utter naivety and stupidity. I personally don’t handle stupid very well. The story starts good. There is a 8 month pregnant young woman Teagan (love her name) who is 23 years old. She finds herself pregnant and alone living in a dingy studio apartment working at a grocery store trying to make ends meet. I won’t spoil how she finds herself in the situation she’s in. She finds out something terrible happened and decides she’s going to drive 2 hours away to stay with her only living relative - her brother -for a few days. He reminds her a snow storm is coming, that she must leave early to avoid it. But the little ding Dong decides to work an extra shift then leaves for her brothers place. Well, it’s quite obvious that she gets herself into a terrible predicament by taking a back roads where she crashes her vehicle and finds herself stuck with no cell service. 23 is such a naive age really. Anyway, she gets help from a large man….and she thinks her and her baby are going to be saved. But are they???? If you are a reader who enjoys books about captivity, desperation and being rescued, this book is for you.

I read this book in one day and loved it. Some reviewers call Freida McFadden’s thrillers “formulaic” or predictable. To me they are comforting with the characters that are never quite who you think they are and the twists that make the story a thriller. This book was a new setting and an unexpected plot that kept my attention. I don’t always like a changing narrator but she wrote it well in this one, using it to give perspective to the characters’ actions with background and thoughts.

Her writing style is successful and I never grow tired of reading her books. Keep them coming, Freida!

This definitely wasn't my favorite of hers, but it was good!! When I read thrillers I prefer the ones that kind of gaslight you in a way to where you have no idea what's going on at all, And while this book was good You definitely had an idea what was happening for most of the book. I just didn't find it as twisty as it could have been I guess? I guessed every single "twist" that there was but like I said it was almost kind of written that way where it wasn't super like on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who's who. The story itself was good though, Just in general I enjoyed the characters and I enjoyed what took place in the book I just wouldn't say it was super unpredictable. But that's not necessarily a bad thing so, I enjoyed it I read it one day so I definitely didn't put it down by any means.

Great story and a quick read. This is the first Freida book that I have predicted almost all of the twists, but I didn't know the why. I am not criticizing, I was excited after reading so many of her books that I finally was correct on some twists! I really enjoy this author and her stories. She writes in a manner that is easy to understand and allows me to relax and read!

This was an amazing book! It’s a story about a woman who is 8 months pregnant, and gets into a car accident in a bad snowstorm on the way to visit her brother at the ski resort where he works. She’s rescued by a man who brings her back to his house where his wife who is a nurse can help her until the storm is over. I loved the pacing of the storyline, and the character development! The twist at the end was so unexpected and shocking! Loved this book!!

Interesting story built upon too many twists and turns. Few portions are quite stretched out and could have been kept slimmer. The novel is however riveting until the last page.

This gripped me from the start and although some parts were a little uncomfortable to read I really enjoyed it. I was desperately waiting for the twist and couldn’t see where it was going and I wasn’t disappointed. The twist was brilliant and I loved the ending. Thank you Freida, as always. So good.
