Born in Japan to Lutheran missionaries, Ann Kullberg spent her first seven years in a rural village outside Tokyo. Her first love in life was coloring. Her mother noted when Ann was four years old, that she was "Always drawing, drawing. It will be her special talent." Moving to the U.S. in 1963, Ann was frustrated in grade school and middle school by the inadequacies of both crayons and cheap colored pencils. She first discovered Prismacolor colored pencils at the age of 30 and the minute she tried them, she felt like she was home. Kullberg took First Place in a local county fair with her first colored pencil rendering. Ann hasn't looked back, since. An award-winning portrait artist, instructor and author, Kullberg has published a monthly magazine for colored pencil artists since 1999. Through her books, website and workshops she continues to instruct and inspire colored pencil artists worldwide.
