关于作者

Helen M Stevens began her professional career as an art embroiderer in 1981. Commissions for the Palace of Westminster, Harrods, The Edith Cavell Hospital and an international reputation as a fine artist ensured that 10 years later her first book, the Embroiderers Countryside, was commissioned by David and Charles. By the time it was republished as the "Masterclass Edition" 15 years later, another 12 titles had been added to Helen's portfolio. Lovers of textiles, history and the countryside continue to be fascinated by Helen's unique style: a mixture of anecdotal and hands on enthusiasm! Helen lives in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, in a late Georgian cottage in an ancient road once called "Field Lane" - her inspiration is all around her.

Helen has always found it hard to decide whether embroidery or writing has been her first love! But now a historical novel has encompassed both in a way different to her non fiction books. Embracing the world of the 10th century ... THE NEEDLE AND THE SWORD weaves a fascinating thread through the royal Court of Wessex where embroidery and treachery are at the heart of the nation!
