OTHER TITLES ON KINDLE: FOX - CROMWELL'S SPY DRAGON'S TEETH THE JUDAS GATE CATS TALES I'm about to begin the third in the FOX trilogy. I've been writing for a living since I was 19. Most of my work has been either for television drama series and serials or for radio drama for the BBC, Capital Radio and Radio Clyde.). The radio work has included many original plays and also a number of adaptations. The Canterville Ghost won a Golden Rose award in New York, A Tale of Two Cities won a Sony Award as best dramatisation. Anna, a play for radio Clyde was the independent radio offer for the Prix Italia. TV Series like Bergerac. The Onedin Line, Dangerfield, Z Cars, Spearhead, The Regiment, General Hospital etc etc. TV originals like Jack Squalors Time, Keats, The Battle for Chesham Close etc.. Radio adaptations also include Zorba the Greek, Far From the Madding Crowd, Hard Times, Lieutenant Boruvka, Wild Strawberries, A Year of Miracle and Grief, Shane and many more plus original plays. I'm married with two children and three grandsons. Until five years ago we split our time between Kew and a house in Gascony. Years before that we had taken a year out to live in Cyprus. We now live in Kew where I seem to spend more time than before tending a vegetable plot, painting, walking and swimming. I hope the third in the Fox series will be available on Kindle by Cristmas. HOW TIMES CHANGE: We always think the early days of our careers were the best. In many ways it is true when it comes to television. Executive producers had the courage to say "Yes" without going through focus groups, the thoughts of their wives, hairdressers and god alone knows who before they would "green light" anything. In those days you could sell a teleplay with one line on a piece of paper. True. It happened to me with the first tele play I ever wrote.A TV producer, the legendary Cecil Clark who was head of drama for Lew Grade met me. I was new and nervous. "Write one line on a piece of paper that sums up the idea", he said. So I did and he commissioned me on the spot. The line? "Mike is coming home to the Black Country to see his dying grandfather and the kit of pigeons." There is one word there that was the reason he commissioned it. You can guess the word. Those were the days. Jack Squalor's Time was the play. So now I write novels and am loving it. I guess the historical research bug goes back to when I was writing The Anne Boleyn segment of The Six Wives of Henry V111. How I got that job is another story. 19 July 2012 revised 07 March 2013
