James L. Hargrove

James L. Hargrove is a former university professor who lives on St. George Island, Florida. He retired from the University of Georgia in 2012 and writes scientific and non-scientific books and Wikipedia pages. Hell's Angels Bombardier is the true story of Lt. Walter Hargrove's WWII experience flying B-17 combat missions in the famous bomber, Hell's Angels. His crew's 13th mission ended when the substitute bomber, Augerhead, was shot down in Nazi-occupied France. What happened next was one of the most hair-raising adventures on record, and the story can now be told based on his actual memoir and newly declassified documents. A second book, The Oyster King, tells the story of the first man to try to develop St. George Island, Florida. William Lee Popham bought the island using his seven romance novels as equity. The Oyster King tells the story of the rise and fall of this eccentric, charming and very talented orator, preacher and real estate developer. James now intends to finish more books related to science as well as that book of poems in his socks drawer!
