Karen Bush Gibson is the author 30+ non-fiction books for children. While she writes on a wide variety of topics, she particularly enjoys highlighting remarkable women in history. She has written for two series for Nomad Press: Gutsy Girls Go for Science (Paleontologists and Programmers) and Girls in Science (Marine Biology and Meteorology). Gibson is the author of four books from Chicago Review Press--Native American History for Kids; Texas History for Kids; Women in Space: 23 Stories of First Flights, Scientific Missions and Gravity-Breaking Adventures; and Women Aviators: 26 Stories of Pioneer Flights, Daring Missions, and Record-Setting Journeys. "Women Aviators" was chosen by Air & Space Smithsonian as one of the Best Children's Books of 2013 and a 2014 Notable Social Studies Trade Book by the National Council for Social Studies (NCSS). Gibson is also the author of an adult mystery, "A Class on Murder" (as K.B. Gibson), the first in the Ronnie Raven series. Gibson also writes travel and children's features for print and the Internet in addition to curriculum writing and instructional design. She is a member of Sisters of Crime, Inc. and the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
