Andrea Shaw Nevins is a professor and assistant dean of academic affairs in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. She is a creative writer and a scholar of Caribbean and African Diaspora studies and author of Working Juju and The Embodiment of Disobedience. Her creative and scholarly writing have been published in numerous journals, including Small Axe, World Literature Today, MaComére, The Caribbean Writer, Crab Orchard Review, Feminist Media Studies, and Social Semiotics. She graduated from the University of Miami with a Ph.D. in English and from Florida International University with an M.F.A in creative writing.
