Mark Timmons is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona where he has been since 2004 having previously taught at the University of Memphis (1989-2004) and Illinois State University (1982-1989). He earned a B.A. in philosophy and psychology from the University of Evansville in 1973, an M.A. in philosophy at Arizona State University in 1975, and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Nebraska in 1982. He has published widely on topics in metaethics (often in collaboration with his colleague, Terry Horgan), and on Kant’s ethics. Currently, he and Horgan are writing a book, funded by the John Templeton Foundation, entitled, Illuminating Reasons: An Essay in Moral Phenomenology. The book is under contract with Oxford University Press. Timmons is editor of Oxford Studies in Normative Ethics, featuring papers presented at the Arizona Workshop in Normative Ethics (WiNE) an annual event that takes place in Tucson.
