Historian, archaeologist, and classical scholar, Duane W. Roller is Professor Emeritus of Classics at The Ohio State University, and currently lives in Santa Fe, NM. He is the author of academic and scholarly 20 books, including The Building Program of Herod the Great, Eratosthenes' Geography, Cleopatra: A Biography, The Geography of Strabo, Ancient Geography, Cleopatra's Daughter, Empire of the Black Sea, and The Geographical Guide of Ptolemy of Alexandria. He has excavated in Greece, Italy, Turkey, and the Levant. He is a four-time Fulbright scholar, and most recently the Karl-Franzens Distinguished Chair of Cultural Studies at the University of Graz, Austria. He was named one of 150 Research and Creative Innovators in the history of the Ohio State University.
