Dr. Susan Salvo earned her most recent degree in educational leadership from Lamar University in Texas and her master’s degree in instructional technology from McNeese State University in Louisiana. Susan is a perpetual student, she devotes time expanding her own knowledge by reading and attending courses online and abroad. She is currently enrolled in University of Louisiana in Lafayette as a student of international psychology and cultural studies. She graduated from the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in 1983 and has been a massage practitioner and instructor for over 40 years. Susan authors two widely used textbooks, contributes scholarly articles for peer-reviewed journals, and conducts presentations at professional conferences across the United States and in the United Kingdom. She reviews case reports for the Massage Therapy Foundation, was part of the task force for the Massage Therapy Body of Knowledge project, is a member of the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education. Susan’s writing, teaching, and research efforts focus on advancing the fields of massage, complementary and integrative healthcare, and higher education. Susan Salvo teaches at the LA Institute of Massage Therapy and the New Mexico School of Massage. Outside of massage, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband Michael, and their children. Susan is a yoga enthusiast with a dedicated practice, and is frequently found walking her dog, Duke, at sunset. When traveling, she is quite adventurous, pursuing activities such as white water rafting, hot air ballooning, and zip-lining.
